It is baffling why Mallikarjun Kharge is so troubled by BJP leaders taking a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela. Questioning whether poverty can be eradicated by bathing in the Ganga is absurd. What connection is there between poverty and Ganga Snan? Congress ruled the country for the longest time—can Kharge ji explain how much poverty they managed to eradicate during their tenure?

If Kharge ji has such disdain, he too can go and bathe in the Ganga. Maybe it will bring about some clarity. Congress leaders constantly attack Hindu religious beliefs, which seems to have become a new norm for them. Repeatedly claiming that BJP disrespects the Constitution has become an old, overused record for Kharge ji. However, he fails to specify when and where the BJP undermined the Constitution or violated women’s rights as he alleges.

Congress claims Parliament sessions are not functioning properly due to the BJP government, but wasn’t it their party that disrupted Parliament, created chaos, and embarrassed themselves by blocking other members? The party that amended the Constitution the most times, imposed the Emergency, and snatched away citizens’ rights, is Congress itself.

Listening to Mallikarjun Kharge’s statements lately, one cannot help but feel pity. His remarks reveal the lack of faith Congress leadership has in democracy and their disregard for the Constitution.
