Indian railways plan to serve only vegetarian food on its trains, premises and stations on October 2 to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In this regard, a proposal has been sent to by Railway Board to Ministry of Culture. If the railways approved, October 2 will not only be celebrated as Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas but also as ‘Vegetarian Day’ as a mark of respect to father of the nation who had propagated non-violence and vegetarianism throughout his life.   As per the blueprint prepared by the Railway Board which has proposed that only vegetarian food will be served to passengers on railway premises on October 2 in 2018, 2019 and 2020 when the central government has planned a special commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Karnataka Verdict: The Karnataka crisis reached a new level today as Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa resigned before the much-anticipated floor test. With his resignation, the drama ended whether ruling BJP had the numbers to back up majority government or not. B.S. After a marathon hearing that was allowed at about 1 am, commenced at 2 am and concluded at 5:30 am, the Supreme Court refused to stay the planned oath-taking of the BJP's BS Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister of Karnataka at 9:30 am on Thursday. However, after hearing the arguments of Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the petitioners G Parameshwara of the Congress and Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), and Attorney General KK Venugopal, appearing for the Centre, the three-member apex court bench did ask for the letter written by Yeddyurappa to the Karnataka Governor staking a claim to form a government in the state.
