In the light of possible early polls in Telangana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have started drawing plans for election campaigns and rallies. As the political atmosphere is heating up in the state, the BJP and Congress have made plans to hold several rallies, to be addressed by their senior leaders. On 6 September, Telangana governor ESL Narasimhan dissolved the state Assembly giving a nod for early Assembly elections in the state, following a recommendation from K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR)-led cabinet. The governor, however, asked Rao to continue as caretaker Chief Minister until the new government is formed. Following this political turn of events, Rao's Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced to hold large public meetings in 100 Assembly constituencies over the next 50 days. The Indian rupee had tumbled to its all time low of 68.85 against the dollar in August 2013 as global financial markets were under fire after the US Federal Reserve announced that it would ‘taper’ its QE programme. To bring stability to the wobbly exchange rate, the RBI introduced a swap deal between September 2013 and November 2013 that was meant to encourage banks to attract sizeable dollar inflows in the form of FCNR(B) deposits. FCNR(B) stands for Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) deposits. Essentially, banks were encouraged to woo their NRI clients to deposit surplus dollars at a fixed interest rate, with the RBI promising to shield banks from the exchange rate risk. On receiving the dollars in 2013, banks were allowed to swap these funds with the RBI for a period of three years while paying a fixed cost of 3.5 per cent per annum. Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat on Friday said that Assembly elections in Telangana might not be necessarily held along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram. The Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram are scheduled to take place this year-end, dates for which are yet to be announced. Rawat said that Telangana chief electoral officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar has been asked to file a report on the current situation of the state, based on which the Election Commission of India (EC) would take further decisions. "We have to assess the matter that whether the election could be conducted along with other four states or not. *నేడు ఉద్యోగ సంఘాలతో కేసీఆర్‌ భేటీ* తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో రాజకీయ పరిణామాలు రోజురోజుకు వేగంగా మారుతున్నాయి. ముందస్తు ఎన్నికలపై ఊహాగానాలు జోరందుకున్న తరుణంలో అసెంబ్లీ రద్దుకు ముహూర్తం కూడా ఖరారు అయింది. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో సీఎం కేసీఆర్‌ మరో ముందడుగు వేశారు. బుధవారం మధ్యాహ్నం సీఎం కేసీఆర్‌ ఉద్యోగ సంఘాలతో భేటీ కానున్నారు. కీలకమైన పీఆర్సీ, ఐఆర్ అంశాలపై నేడు వారితో చర్చించి కీలక నిర్ణయం తీసుకునే అవకాశం ఉంది. అయితే ఈసారి 43 శాతం ఐఆర్ ను కోరుతున్నారు ఉద్యోగులు. గతంలో 27 శాతం ఐఆర్ ఇచ్చింది తెలంగాణ సర్కార్. ఈ రోజు జరిగే ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల సమావేశంలో కీలక ప్రకటన చేసే అవకాశం ఉన్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. గురువారం జరిగే కేబినేట్‌ సమావేశానికి ముందు నేడు ఉద్యోగ సంఘాలతో భేటీ కావడంతో ప్రాధాన్యత సంతరించుకుంది. మరోవైపు ముందస్తు ఎన్నికల నేపథ్యంలో గురువారం జరగనున్న కేబినేట్‌ భేటీకి రాష్ట్రంలోని మంత్రులు అందరు హైదరాబాద్‌లో ఉండాలని సీఎం కేసీఆర్‌ ఆదేశించారు. గురువారం ఉదయం 6 గంటలకు మొదలయ్యే కేబినేట్‌ భేటీ అనంతరం ఎన్నికలపై తుది ప్రకటన విడుదలైయే అవకాశం ఉంది.

New Delhi: A Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, on Wednesday discussed the recommendations of a panel set up to suggest ways to check incidents of lynching, officials said. One of the key recommendations of the committee of secretaries, headed by Union home secretary Rajiv Gauba, is to put to task country heads of the social media platforms sites. The panel is also believed to have recommended tightening of law by inserting clauses in the Indian Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure through parliamentary approval. This was the first meeting of the GoM and the ministers were briefed about the recommendations of the committee, a home ministry official said. The GoM is expected to hold further meetings over the next few weeks to finalise its recommendations and would subsequently the same to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a final decision, the official said.
