What Is the Telangana CM Planning? The Shocking GHMC Mega-Merger That Could Destroy Hyderabad!

Is Hyderabad Being Pushed Into Chaos? Telangana CM’s GHMC Mega-Merger Raises Serious Concerns

Dear Chief Minister…

Why is this happening? What exactly is the plan for Hyderabad?

If this is the direction you are heading, then why not merge the entire state of Telangana into Hyderabad and finish it once and for all?

Hyderabad is already struggling with overburdened civic services…

And now, yet another controversial decision:

Merging 27 surrounding municipalities and corporations into GHMC.

🔴

Is This What Telangana Was Formed For?

Let’s put emotions aside for a moment.

The core reason for Telangana’s formation was:

✔ Smaller administrative units

✔ Faster development

✔ Stronger local governance

✔ Clear identity and efficient administration

But today, what are we heading towards?

Centralization instead of decentralization.

Chaos instead of clarity.

🔵

GHMC: A System Already Failing to Deliver

The old MCH plus nine municipalities were merged to form GHMC.

Since then:

  • Infrastructure is collapsing
  • Basic civic services are inconsistent
  • Each zone suffers from different unsolved problems
  • No authority is able to manage the entire city effectively

625 sq. km itself is too big.

But instead of strengthening management, the government wants to create a monster municipality!

🔴

The New ‘Tughlaq Idea’: Merging 27 More Municipalities Into GHMC

If this merger happens:

📌

Hyderabad’s population becomes 1.69 crore

Making it the largest municipal corporation in India —

larger than Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

📌

GHMC limits expand from 625 sq. km to 1,982.9 sq. km

A city of this size cannot be governed from one corporation.

Not efficiently.

Not practically.

Not logically.

It’s not administration.

It’s administrative suicide.

🟠

Reality Check: GHMC Should Be Split Into Three Corporations — Not Expanded

Cities across the world decentralize civic governance:

  • North Greater
  • South Greater
  • Central Greater

This ensures better management, faster approvals, stronger accountability, and improved public services.

But here, the government wants to combine everything under a single dysfunctional body.

This is not modernization —

This is a recipe for disaster.

🟣

Is This Really for Development… or for Political Advantage?

Let’s be frank.

Merging such a massive population and area into GHMC means:

  • Local problems will worsen
  • Funds won’t be enough
  • Elected representatives will be stretched thin
  • Civic departments will collapse
  • Accountability will disappear

This is not development.

It is administrative overload, affecting lakhs of citizens.

🟢

Conclusion: Hyderabad Needs Decentralization — Not Forced Expansion

Telangana was formed to bring governance closer to people.

To create smaller units.

To improve efficiency and speed.

But the current move goes completely against the spirit of Telangana.

Hyderabad does not need expansion.

Hyderabad needs division, decentralization, and better governance.

If this GHMC mega-merger happens…

The city will suffer, and the people will pay the price.
